Betnesole Shots

Asked for Female, 37 years

I’m asking on the behalf of other. I’m 36.5weeks pregnant and have planned c section on 38 weeks. I have also gestational diabetes which is controlled. I want to ask about betnesole shots. My question is that when am I supposed to get the betnesole shots if the 38weeks C section has been already planned as my doctor didn't tell me anything?

Dear Patient,

The doctor calls the patient every one to two week in the last trimester. 38weeks is fullterm and steroid injection is normally not needed. Two steroid injections is given 48hrs apart of one another before delivery when delivery is in 8th month since a fetus lungs are immature. In 9th mth this is usually not considered. However if they will consider it it will be given in your last week (ie 37th in your case) before C section. You should revisit your doctor when your 37th week starts and discuss with her.
