How many times in a year a healthy person can donate blood? Furthermore, is there any negative effect of blood donation? Some people say that after donating blood, their health was badly affected. To what extent this is true? Thanks in advance

Dear Patient,

The normal interval between whole blood donations is 16 weeks (minimum 12 weeks) but no more than 3 donations a year are collected from female donors because of their more precarious iron status. Donors undergo a screening test for anemia. The minimum pre-donation Hb concentration is 125 g/L for female donors and 135 g/L for males.
donating blood has minimum side effects, these include: bruising, continued bleeding, dizziness, lightheadedness, and nausea, pain, physical weakness.
