Consistent Fever

My nephew is having 101 to 102 fever after every 4 hours we are giving panadol 4 drops but on its box its written that these drops are for 2 months babies on wards. Please tell me is it ok to give him 4 drops? And if not, then how to control the fever?

Dear Patient,

A quarter dropper is the desired dose for less than 6mo. However its more important to find out why he is having a fever and treat it. Does he have any pain after having food/urinating? Does he have motions? Does he have any flu or cough? If not then you should get a CBC done and see a pediatrician immediately. Give the child regular feeds and if the fever is 101 or above, give a bath and make him wear a vest only at all times. Sponge with icy water if fever is still high. If fever is above 103 then go To any hospital emergency immediately.
