Disloacated Arm

I have a 4 years old daughter. A few days back I pulled her arm while she was running around. I think this dislocated her shoulder Should I take her for X-rays? Won't they be harmful to a child at her age? If not then please guide me what to do.

Dear Patient,

Take off her shirt and compare both arms for swelling. If there is slight swelling that's normal. But if there is more, the child is continuously crying and unable to hold anything with that arm then you could get an X-ray. It is unlikely that this is a fracture otherwise your child wouldn't stop crying or sleep.

Just give her brufen syrup twice a day for pain. Do warm or cold compresses.and rub brufen gel on her arm. This should help the pain go away. Consider giving her one drop Dmax a day.
