Dry Cough Problem

Asked for Female, 15 years

My daughter has a dry cough which gets worse at night without any other symptom. It is non-stop to the point where she starts gagging and even throws up. We went to the doctor and he said there is no congestion so it looks like allergy. I have no idea which allergy is it because nothing has changed in the house? The doctor prescribed anti-allergy and nebulizing with normal saline. What should we look out for?

Dear Patient,

Continue nebulizing. Antiallergy should be discontinued after 7 days maximum. Give Myteka Sachet once at night for ten days. This should settle down any allergies.
Most kids are allergic to dust or pollen- wash curtains in the child's room, overhaul her living space, and make sure the room has minimal storage. There are tests available at good labs for allergies, consider getting those done. If the problem doesn't improve with myteka or returns you may want to see a pulmonologist.
