Eating Problem

Asked for Male, 2 years

My 1.5-year boy eats sand regularly means every day. I repeatedly make him stop to do that but he did not. M too much worried about his habit. Even i made him checked by the dr. But in vain. that medicine disturbed his stomach in a result of motions. He is also so weak.

Dear Patient,

This is a disease called pica/geophagia. Your doctor most likely gave iron as eating sand reduces body iron/blood significantly. If the motions are not excessive then continue giving iron and give probiotics and binding foods (khichri, banana, sagoodana, cooked apples) along with it. Consider talking to a child behavioural psychologist for some tips on how to curb this habit of his.
