High Amniotic fluids

I am 6 months pregnant and my ultrasound indicates that everything is perfectly fine but my amniotic fluids are high than it should normally be. My question is, how often does this happen? What is the cause of this? Is there a risk?

Dear Patient,

Polyhydramnios or excess amniotic fluid occurs in 1-2% pregnancy and is associated with some risks and reasons listed below. Its not necessary that ALL of these or even any of these are happening to you and your child but these MAY be present, gestational diabetes is one of the common causes. Your doc can better guide you as to the real cause. Also if the level of fluid isn't alarmingly high then this is nothing to worry about and will be monitored in following scans
