High Fever

Aslam o alakium, my 7 year old daughter is having high fever 101-104 for 5 days, docs saying its viral and just give over the counter fever relief. Today her fever is not going down with over the counter fever medicine. What could it be?

Dear Patient,

Viral fever can be high in the first two days. If its been five days and its still high it may be changing to bacterial and cbc should be done.its best to consult a specialist before running tests on a small child.
Give her a bath and keep her in a diaper and no clothes, avoid direct ac/fan on her but the room can be cool so her fever comes down. If unable to reach a child specialist take her to nearest hospital in case of constant 104 fever, vomits, fast breathing, diarrhea or child refusing to feed or appearing drowsy.
