Inflamed Toe

Asked for Male, 61 years

My father got his toe inflamed. He’s diabetic. He used Velosef and Brufen for two days but then tried some home remedies. Unfortunately, the situation is not getting better. Any doctors who would like to suggest for his recent condition?

Dear Patient,

A toe inflammation in a diabetic is often called gangrene. It is due to the insufficient blood supply and healing of the wound. You first need to make sure that he's up to date on his diabetes treatment and his sugars are in normal range. For his foot, you will need to see a general surgeon who can assess it, treat and save it before the wound spreads. Gangrene grows if left untreated. Kindly clean it daily with pyodine and protect from dust and water. Keep it open and raised.
