Loose Stools

My son is suffering from loose stools. I went to general hospital. Prescribed with; Zincat OD, Cericef, Actiflora sachet,ORS. Plus I want to ask if I can give my son yogurt or any other solid diet?

Dear Patient,

Yes ofcourse. Give him khichri (made with rice and zeera only), yogurt, bananas and lots of ispaghol husk, sagoodana can also be given. These should help him recover. The medications seem ok. Antibiotics should not be started immediately esp for kids. Some time (5-10days depending on severity) should be given with ispaghol, probiotics (actiflora) and zincat OD which often cause complete recovery. Give Pedialyte juice intermittently.
