Lump on the breast

Aoa, yesterday I used a manual breast pump because I could not feed the 1-month-old baby due to his circumcision first day. After some time of using a pump, I am feeling hard lump type thing in the upper part of the breast on the right side. Its hard and painful. What should I do kindly guide?

Dear Patient,

Don't be alarmed. Its common for a milk duct to get blocked when you haven't nursed your child for a few hours or as per your routine. Just massage the area with hot towels and rub it in circles, the pain is due to milk build up and will only worse till the milk is released. Once released you can put cooled cabbage leaves in your bra to provide a soothing effect.
Every time you miss a feed make sure to express milk through the pump to avoid this in the future.
