Medication Problem

Asked for Female, 30 years

I have persistent headache from last 8 years and got checked up several times. Few years ago, I got to know that it is migraine and they gave me a medicine called “amitriptyline”. A doctor suggested me a CT scan but my family doesn’t agree to it. I still suffer from Migraine every now and then. My question is should I continue that medicine or should I ask for an alternative?

Dear Patient,

Consider trying alternate treatments for migraine. Not all medications suit all patients and migraine takes some trial an error after which a medication can help the patient. Amitriptyline needs weaning off, as far as I know, to consult with one of the doctors below for further recommendation.
There is no need for CT scan, migraine wears off eventually in some years, reduces in intensity and frequency.
