Apart from NSAIDs, most people find cold therapy extremely helpful. You can lie on your stomach and place a cold pack on your lower back for 20mins and repeat this every 2-4hrs. Alternate this with heat packs if this gives you more relief. If certain postures give pain its best to apply cold immediately after you move. Alternately you can also combine cold therapy with a message by making someone press down on your back gently with an ice cube but only for 5-10mins. Other treatments include injections in the muscle to relieve pain and can be discussed with orthopedic doctor.
