No mark of BCG

My son has no mark of BCG on his arm. It is believed that if there is no mark of BCG so vaccination is again mandatory. I want to know about the BCG given at the time of birth is the mark mandatory to make?

Dear Patient,

Immediately after vaccine, there is a small swelling at the injection site for 6-8 hours. After that, the swelling disappears & the injection site looks normal. After 6-8 weeks a swelling reappears which is like a mosquito bite. It grows in size & forms a nodule which breaks open, discharges fluid & forms an ulcer. It heals by forming a scar. This process takes 2-5 weeks. Ultimately the typical puckered scar is formed which remains for a lifetime.
If your child is above 2 yr there's no need to repeat vaccine now.
