Overweight and Back Ache

A 24 weeks pregnant lady with cerclage is on bed rest and using Cyclogest, Loprin and Osos D twice a day. She used to keep pillow under her hips 24/7 in order to reduce weight on cervix. Now from past 4 days, she cannot lay down due to back ache not even on sides for more than an hour. She is taking neubrol forte twice for backache. The pain subsides or goes away when she sits for half an hour. What can be the reason and the treatment?

Dear Patient,

The cerclage is done to support the uterus to keep the baby inside till end. The pillows are also helping to this. But since the weight will now come on the back n not pelvis it will hurt her a lot. Due to pregnancy we cant give her extremely strong pain killers or they may harm the baby. We can't even recommend back rubs or hot treatment cuz they may harm the baby. Its best if a family member meets her gynae & ask for medicines & support for her back to help her pass this painful time.
