Pain in Legs

Asked for Female, 65 years

My mother's been having terrible pain in her legs (starting from Knees) for the past many days. What are the first few things need to be done? Any doctor suggestion would be appreciated.

Dear Patient,

The first thing to do is to get her comfortable slippers that have ample cushioning and arch support to help her in walking-try aerosoft, Nike, etc. If painkillers tablets and gel are not helpful to apply hot and cold packs alternately. if these aren't helpful as well then consider seeing an orthopedic. If the problem is there with swelling or redness or warmth esp then meeting an orthopedic at earliest is a must. Meanwhile, you can test her vitamin D and do a knee x-ray of the affected knee only. Start her on osnate D tablets if not on any calcium supplements as yet.
