Pain in nipples

Dear Patient,

To avoid and heal cracked nipples use a nipple shield. Apply mycitracin ointment AFTER feed and before every feed make sure to COMPLETELY wash it off with soap and water and clean your nipple before giving to child. You can also apply lanolin cream sometimes or your own breast milk to help heal.
Do not let excessive milk store in your breasts between feeds- use hot wet towels to massage breast and squeeze or pump milk using a manual/electric pump. U can store or discard this milk. If you have a fever take 2 tablets panadol as needed and keep cold cabbage leaves in bra to sooth nipples.
