Poor Muscles

My son was born premature at 32 weeks but still he hasn’t started walking yet. He is active and but he can’t stand for long and he just totally refuses to walk even by holding hands and even when he stands, his legs shake because they are weak to hold enough weight. He is 12 kg at the moment. I got him checked several times but the doctors tell me that the X-ray is fine and he would start to walk on his own. But, I am worried. So my question is Can I start his Physiotherapy?

Dear Patient,

How old is your son? If he's less than 18mths chances is to let him take his time and he will eventually learn to walk.
If his tests are coming normally than there is probably nothing concerning. Although an old practice but buying a walker may help encourage him to walk
However if he's older I would ask you to meet with an expert in the clinic so that they can assess your child and suggest if you should go ahead with physiotherapy. Alternatively, there is no harm in asking a physiotherapist as well as to how to approach this matter.
