Screaming baby

My son 5 month old screams on the top of his voice all day. As soon as I respond or look he giggles or smile sometimes. But this screaming all day is worrying me now. Kindly suggest me something. Its been more than a month now that he does this but since a couple of days, he is doing this all the time he is awake.

Dear Patient,

Have you tried not responding? How long does he scream for then? Have you tried whispering, sometimes kids get distracted and choose to whisper?
When you look at him is it with a plain face or with any sort of particular reaction?
Also please be aware that during their course of growth infants and toddlers change patterns and behaviors every few weeks. In due time he will have another pattern. Unless you feel he is in pain then this shouldn't be alarming. Perhaps he is learning to engage with you and this is the way he understands.
