Sleeping alot

My daughter will be 4months old next week. Since 2 days she is sleeping alot awake hardly 3 hrs a day. Sometimes wakes up for milk and then sleeps again. Is it normal? 2 fam members also says she seems lighter than before. Is it normal?

Dear Patient,

Children are still adjusting to the world in their first year of life particularly first 6months. As long as when shes up shes alert, responsive, she has no fever, she wakes up for feed and feeds well you have nothing to worry about. Kids will sleep a lot and that is where most of their growth even occurs. If you feel she has a fever, she isn't waking up for feed every 3-4 hrs, if she's not active or you feel shes lost weight on a weighing scale (not an estimate) then you may see a child specialist for a second opinion.
