Speech Delay

My son is 2 years and 10 months old. he has not started talking yet. he says only few words which are also not very clear. hearing is fine. evaluated for autism. hes fine. how long kids take who have speech delay issue. he has taken cognition enhancer for 1 month also.

Dear Patient,

Its great news his hearing is perfect and he is not autistic. Speech delays are not uncommon.
You will need to read out to him and be loud and expressive and use gestures to talk and explain, encourage him to repeat after you patiently. Discourage iPad and phone screens. Enroll in a playgroup where he can interact with other kids. Most of all you will need to consider speech therapy which can help him develop the necessary speech for his age.
