Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy?

My daughter has been advised Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy. I have read somewhere in a medical discussion that age limit for Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy is minimum 3 years and the patient weight should be not less than 15 Kg. My daughter age is 6.5 years but she is very weak and her weight is 14.20 Kg. Please suggest, should i go for Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy?

Dear Patient,

Although tonsillectomy is a safe procedure but to be on the safe side you can delay the surgery till shes above the weight cut off. Although kids under 3yrs do well in this surgery too but its best to discuss your concern with your ENT and suggest delaying it.
Medically speaking, it is only suggested since bleeding tendencies may vary between patients and some may bleed more.
A little bleeding is expected in all surgeries and is normal.
