Toxic Neuropathy

My cousin was diagnosed with toxic neuropathy due to alcoholic history. The doctor advised Medrol injection 1000mg and Risek 40 for 3 days. The doctors said that due to toxic neuropathy his optic nerve got damaged, which is impossible to recover now. Now his vision somehow has been restored and even today he pointed out objects and identified them but unclear and blurry. What can we do to restore his vision? What medication should we give him? What disease is this?

Dear Patient,

In simple terms, this means that his nerves of multiple regions have damaged. Optic nerve damage is permanent and cannot be fixed. There may be a partial function but if it is damaged then those areas cannot heal. There are multiple health supplements nowadays including those containing B12 or others that can generally boost the body. These will NOT cure him but can help him feel better and stronger than he would without them. You can give “One a day tablet' or B-complex or any other after consulting an eye specialist as well.
