Dr. Robina Qureshi is an experienced dermatologist in Islamabad. She is a foreign qualified dermatologist who provides solutions for a wide range of skin-related concerns. She currently practices at Skin Spot and Laser clinic.
In this session with oladoc, she talks about a major skin problem i.e Eczema and its available treatment options in Pakistan.
Q.1. Please tell us about eczema and its relevant causes
Well, it is winter these days, and during the winters, skin becomes really dry and sensitive. Contact with any fabric may start to itch the skin. Some people also have genetically sensitive skin. These people have frequently inflamed and itchy skin. This itchy, inflamed, cracked, rough skin is known as eczema.
Q.2. What is the best treatment for eczema?
I would definitely suggest taking care of your skin. Eczema is certainly treatable but first, you have to find the cause of your eczema. Only a dermatologist can tell you where your eczema is occurring and why. Eczema may occur in many areas such as the back of your head, under your arms, back of the arms, your back and your palms too. It may occur for different reasons on different areas of the body.
Usually, people believe that eczema occurs because of eating something, however, that is not true. It mostly occurs due to contact with something. It’s important to keep your skin moisturised during an eczema flare-up. Eczema is treated by applying soothing creams, antiseptics and even some steroids.
Q.3. What is the best skincare routine for working women?
For a good skincare routine, she has to keep up her energy and hydration. Sleep enough and take your breakfast in the morning. Other than that, don’t use soaps for cleansing and always apply a sunblock. In addition, use a good, non-comedogenic(non-acne causing) moisturiser.
Q.4. Would you like to give any general advice to your viewers?
Well, I would like to say that you should always take good care of your skin. Even if you leave your skincare for a few days, your skin reverts back to being dull and unhealthy. So, take care of your skin regularly. In addition, if you experience any skin concerns, go to a certified skin doctor.
