Ocular trauma refers to any injury to the eye. The injury may have been due to mechanical trauma (blunt or penetrating), chemical agents, or radiation (ultraviolet or ionizing). The front, clear surface of the eye called the cornea can be scratched and often causes pain, redness and tearing.
