Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed Mahar is a very well-known Endocrinologist &
Diabetologist in Karachi, who is often considered among the most
distinguished figures in the relevant field. He is an experienced professional
with the ability to handle a wide range of services such as treatment of
diabetes, management of hyperglycemia & hypoglycemia, dialysis, pediatric
diabetes treatment, kidney care, metabolic disorder treatment and
counseling sessions for the mental health of diabetic patients, etc.
Qualifications
Dr. Saeed Ahmed Mahar is a highly qualified medical professional and has
numerous qualifications and degrees. He graduated from Liaquat University
of Medical & Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan, where he was
awarded a certificate of merit by the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic
of Pakistan.
He completed his internal medicine residency from Dow University of
Health Sciences & Civil Hospital Karachi, Pakistan, and was certified as a
Fellow in Internal Medicine from the College of Physicians & Surgeons
Pakistan.
Subsequently, he chose subspecialty of Endocrinology and completed a
Fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism from Aga Khan
University Karachi with a clinical attachment at St Bartholomew's Hospital,
West Smithfield, London, United Kingdom and was awarded the best fellow
in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism.
Dr. Saeed is a PMDC (Now PMC) Registered Professional who has gained
international acclaim and has been awarded the fellowship of the American
College of Physicians (FACP), the Fellowship of the American College of
Endocrinology (FACE), and the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians
London (FRCP).
Experience
Dr. Saeed Ahmed has more than 24 years of experience in his line of work
and is currently performing the roles of Professor of Medicine, Consultant
Endocrinologist, Diabetologist and Head of Endocrine services at the
National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Karachi, Pakistan.
He is also offering consultations at Liaquat National Hospital & Medical
College and South City Hospital, both of which are also located in Karachi.
Other than this, he is serving as the Supervisor & Examiner for FCPS
Endocrinology at the College of Physicians & Surgeons as well as a
Consultant Endocrinologist at Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan.
Dr. Saeed has served the Pakistan Endocrine Society in various positions of
authority during the last 8 years including carrying out the responsibilities
of President of Pakistan Endocrine Society (2015-16).
He has also taken over the role of General Secretary of the American
Association of Clinical Endocrinologist Pakistan Chapter (2019-2020) and
Finance Secretary Vice President (2015-16).
Moreover, he received the prestigious lifetime achievement award in 2018
for his outstanding services to the Pakistan Endocrine society and
Endocrinology in Pakistan.
Activism
Saeed Ahmed Mahar has a proactive approach when it comes to raising
awareness to the masses and is extremely devoted when it comes to
educating the men & women of different age groups in Pakistan.
He has served the community as a researcher, writer, public speaker &
professional in the field while continuing to make significant efforts for the
development of the health care standards available to the Pakistani
audience.
Dr. Saeed Mahar is actively involved in teaching undergraduates,
postgraduates, family Physicians, pharmacists and paramedical staff in
various institutions across Pakistan.
He is a National as well as an international speaker & educator for several
topics in areas such as diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, lipid management,
thyroid disease & other endocrine problems, publishing more than 30
articles in peer-reviewed medical journals both locally and internationally.
Dr. Saeed is also an advisor to various companies and is held in high regard

Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed is a proficient health care specialist with the
capabilities to deal with a diverse range of services but his main area of
clinical interest lies in the treatment of diabetes, thyroid, lipid disorders,
metabolic bone diseases, obesity, infertility and male sexual disorders.
In one video available online, he discusses one of the most commonly
found diseases in Pakistan, which is diabetes. He said that every one in six
people in Pakistan have a form of diabetes yet half of these people are not
even aware that they are diabetic.
Many people do not notice the symptoms of diabetes but if a person is
diabetic and the disease is diagnosed in early stages, there are different
treatments available to manage the illness.
He went on to discuss the symptoms of the illness and the relevant
precautionary measures that can be taken to avoid any serious
