Dr Asif Imam graduated from Dow Medical College, Karachi in 1976 and proceeded to the US for postgraduate training. Upon completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine, he was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. After practicing general internal medicine, he joined a fellowship training program in Allergy & Clinical immunology at the University of California, Irvine, US. Subsequent to the fellowship, he was additionally certified by the American Board of Allergy –Immunology and was appointed as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine, University of California, Irvine.He practiced in the field of Allergy & Immunology in the United States for 12 years where he was the Director of Integrated Clinical Research, Corona, California, an organization responsible for conducting clinical drug trials for emerging therapies for asthma and allergies. Subsequent to his return to Pakistan in 1998, Dr Imam established SINA Healthcare Systems under the SINA Health, Education and Welfare Trust. Since then, he has worked on developing a quality-managed, standardized, low-cost community primary healthcare system. SINA's vision is to create a model of a community primary healthcare system with professional accountability for widespread replication in Pakistan.Dr Asif is also a lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the Aga Khan University Hospital and runs the Allergy Clinic at AKUH and is involved in clinical research in asthma and allergic diseases in Pakistan. Dr Asif Imam is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the American Board of Allergy & Immunology. He provides his expertise in the areas of Allergy & Immunology for patients at The Chest Clinic at South City Hospital, Karachi.
