Bio

Dr. Omar Aziz Rana is a highly skilled interventional cardiologist and has earned a glowing reputation as a very effective doctor, having successfully treated hundreds of heart patients. He is a strong believer in the idea that doctors don’t just treat patients, but are actively involved in a partnership with their patients to improve their health. This means that to truly make progress with a particular illness, both patient and doctor have to work together. Dr Rana is also a pioneer of a number of specialised cardiology techniques and hopes to introduce techniques he learnt during his training in the UK to Pakistan.

Qualifications

Dr. Omar Aziz Rana has gone through a large number of training programmes from around the world, starting with his M.B.B.S from King Edward Medical University where he also got his postgraduate cardiology training. He then went on to get his doctorate from the University of Southampton, he also won the Scientific Investigator of the Year Award by the British Society of Echocardiography around this time. Dr. Rana also completed a five year program for specialised cardiology training in the UK, even getting certified by the Royal College of Physicians. He then completed an additional 2 year training program in interventional cardiology from the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, one of the busiest cardiology hospitals in the UK.

Dr. Omar Aziz Rana has around 18 years of work experience in cardiology, both in and out of Pakistan. He is currently working as one of the top cardiologists at Omar Hospital and Cardiology Center.

Activism

Dr. Omar has often appeared in interviews and videos talking about various procedures and heart diseases. He has explained how stents work and that it takes a large amount of cooperation from the patient to treat any kind of heart disease that may require a stent. He has also been very active when it comes to medical research and has written numerous papers, including a very influential paper that details the relationship between low blood sugar and blood flow through coronary arteries.
