About Bactirid capsule 400mg
Antibiotic capsule used to treat bacterial infections in adults and children.
Bactirid Capsule Uses
- Treats respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis.
- Clears urinary tract infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
- Manages ear infections, including acute otitis media in children.
- Treats uncomplicated typhoid fever caused by susceptible strains.
Bactirid Capsule Benefits
- Works against a broad range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
- Once or twice daily dosing makes it easier to complete the full course.
- Reaches good levels in tissue, helping clear stubborn infections faster.
Doctors across Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi commonly prescribe Bactirid for throat, ear, sinus, and urinary infections in adults and children. It is often chosen when a penicillin allergy limits other antibiotic options. Cefixime reaches good levels in body tissue, which helps it work well against common community infections.
Bactirid does not treat viral illnesses like flu, common cold, or most sore throats caused by viruses. An antibiotic used for a viral infection will not help symptoms and adds to antibiotic resistance over time.
A full course of Bactirid should be completed, even if symptoms improve within a few days. Early discontinuation can let surviving bacteria multiply and cause the infection to return, sometimes in a harder to treat form.

Risks and warnings
- Allergic Reactions: Cefixime can cause allergic reactions ranging from mild rash to severe reactions in people allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
- Diarrhea And Colitis: Cefixime can disturb normal gut bacteria and, in rare cases, lead to severe diarrhea from Clostridioides difficile infection.
- Kidney Impairment: People with reduced kidney function need a lower dose, since the drug is cleared through the kidneys.
- Pregnancy And Breastfeeding: Use only if a doctor confirms it is needed, after weighing benefits against possible risks.
- Antibiotic Resistance: Overuse or incomplete courses can make future infections harder to treat with the same antibiotic.
