What Experts Say
Physicians prescribe aceclofenac for patients with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other painful joint conditions. It works by reducing the production of prostaglandins, the chemicals responsible for pain, swelling and inflammation at the site of injury or joint damage. Its twice daily dosing schedule makes it convenient for patients managing chronic joint pain.
Like other NSAIDs, aceclofenac carries a risk of stomach irritation, ulcers and, less commonly, cardiovascular events with long term or high dose use. Doctors generally recommend the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration needed to control symptoms, and patients with a history of stomach ulcers, heart disease or kidney problems are monitored more closely or advised alternative options.
Aceclofenac is not recommended for patients with active gastrointestinal bleeding, severe heart failure or significant kidney impairment. Physicians often advise taking it with food to reduce stomach upset and avoid combining it with other NSAIDs or long term steroid use. Regular follow up helps catch early signs of gastrointestinal or kidney related side effects before they become serious.
