How to use Emod capsule 2 mg?
- Take 2 capsules after the first loose stool, then 1 capsule after each following loose stool
- Do not exceed 8 capsules (16 mg) in 24 hours unless your doctor says otherwise
- Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water
- Drink oral rehydration solution alongside to replace lost fluids
- Stop the medicine once stools return to normal
Drug Interactions
- Quinidine: Taking quinidine with Emod can raise loperamide blood levels and increase heart rhythm risk.
- Ritonavir: This antiviral can raise loperamide levels in the blood, increasing side effect risk.
- CNS Depressants: Combining Emod with sedatives or opioids can add to drowsiness.
- Ketoconazole: This antifungal can increase loperamide absorption and related risks.
Risks and warnings
- Bloody Diarrhea: Do not use Emod if you have blood in your stool or high fever, since this may signal a bacterial infection that needs different treatment.
- Liver Disease: People with liver problems should use Emod cautiously and only under medical supervision.
- Heart Rhythm Risk: Taking more than the recommended dose can affect heart rhythm, so never exceed the labeled dose.
- Children: Emod is not recommended for children under 12 years without a doctor's advice.
