What Experts Say
Doctors across Pakistan often choose Magnett Capsule 400mg for typhoid fever, since resistance to older first line agents such as ampicillin and co trimoxazole remains common in the region. The higher strength allows once daily dosing, which supports treatment completion and reduces the number of doses a patient can forget during a busy work week.
Physicians usually confirm the causative organism through blood or stool culture before starting therapy, and review sensitivity results if fever persists beyond three days of treatment. A full course, generally seven to fourteen days depending on severity and response, is recommended even after symptoms settle, since stopping early is linked to relapse in clinical practice.
Cefixime works by blocking bacterial cell wall synthesis and resists breakdown by many common beta lactamase enzymes, which lets it act against organisms that no longer respond to older penicillins. Renal function is checked before dosing in older patients and those with kidney disease, since the drug clears mainly through the kidneys.
