An 8.5mth old should be taking three small meals a day upto ten teaspoonfuls each( not adult tsp but baby tsp). In the morning the child could have an egg/mashed fruit purree like banana with apple. In the afternoon they could have khichri (daal chawal with small protein and a baby carrot-purreed after cooking) and at night they could have custard/sagoodana/oats made in milk.
Basically one meal of fruits, one of milk/yogurt based strengthening foods- n one of purreed daal chawal/roti/oats with chcikn/meat n veggie.
