Chest Congestion

Asked for Female, 29 years

I have fever, flu, headache, nose blockage and chest congestion. I have been taking erythromycin (400 mg 1 tablet per day) and Arinac (200 mg twice a day). Due to arinac, my nose blockage, headache and fever has gone. I’m only left with chest congestion and it is driving me insane. I take lukewarm water with honey which has melted my phlegm but it isn't going anywhere. It keep on moving to my ears whenever I lie down. My saliva has become sticky. I’m sick of spitting.

Dear Patient,

Hello. It must be tough. For this, you need to take steam regularly. Keep yourself hydrated. Avoid rice, banana, yogurt till this resolves. You may see a medical specialist for proper evaluation.

Dear Patient,

Kindly purchase a nebulizer if possible or go to your nearby clinic to get nebulized three times a day. Use 2ml normal saline in your nebulizer and nebulize for 15minutes daily three times each. This should help your phlegm to come up by way of mouth.
Alternatively, if you have a nasal blockage as well, you could take 15mins of steam three times a day and this will help your phlegm melt and pass down through your GI tract. You can add Vicks to this. Use whichever method you prefer. Hope it helps.
