Lower back injury

I have had a lower back injury while performing deadlifts, weight was a bit heavy so I guess I lost it somewhere during my reps. Now, I have taken “Nise” and have rested for 10 days. My question is, how long do I have to resist myself from going back to the gym and should I start doing my lower back stretches for recovery as I still feel a bit of pain in the lower back and my but while I sit without support. please if there is any better way to recover the muscles, do recommend.

Dear Patient,

I'm sorry to hear that. The first step to recovery is rest. If on medication, with the treatment you still experience slight pain then lifting weights right now would worsen your condition severely. I would recommend mild stretches for a back injury (available online) nothing too athletic. Also, apply TENS to your back or go for a little physiotherapy to loosen The muscles and relax you. Do warm compresses of the back as well. It's best to visit a doctor to resume gym in another two weeks or you have a risk of relapse.
