Nodule in gluteal muscle

Asked for Male, 47 years

My husband is 42 yrs old.He did an MRI of the spine and they found he has a hernia but also a nodule 4mm/2mm in the upper right gluteal muscle and the MRI can’t exclude a tumoral sublevel.Did an ultrasound too and it said “solid mass with some calcification”; I am not sure about the calcification part though. We’re waiting to see a surgeon but in the meantime I am terrified. Is it cancer?Thank you.
