Hi actually asking for my cousin she is an anxiety patient taking citalopram had already 3 kids but all 3 were c section her age is 37 so she wants to ask that while one anxiety medicine its ok to be pregnant or she should avoid? Any doctor pls advice

Dear Patient,

I'm sorry to hear of your struggle. With any mental health issue, medicines alone cannot be used to 'cure' the issues. The patient needs some counselling and awareness as well to help them come to terms with their illness and how to cope with it. As for the citalopram, all medications esp for mental illnesses can be harmful for pregnancy. But do not leave it without consulting your specialist as sometimes the benefits can outweigh the harm.
