There are some specific circumstances under which the use of certain medications is contraindicated or considered dangerous. So if you are taking any medicine its always a good practice to familiarize yourself with its risks and warnings.

The risks and warnings associated with Nims are:

1. Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant, do not take Nims unless your doctor advises it. It can affect the functioning of your baby’s heart, especially when taken in the third trimester.

Breastfeeding mothers should also consult with a healthcare provider before taking it. Also, when taken during pregnancy, it can result in kidney failure in the newborn. Therefore, you should not take it during pregnancy. Always give your healthcare provider a complete and proper medical history about your health condition.

2. Allergic to Nimesulide

If you are allergic to nimesulide, do not take Nims or any other medicine with the same generic name. It can result in a life-threatening condition called anaphylactic shock.

3. Heart diseases

Patients with heart disease, like prior heart attacks, must take it with caution because it inhibits the chemicals known as prostaglandins that protect your heart.

4. Stroke

If you have had a stroke, do not take Nims, as it can make you prone to it.

5. Hypertension

Hypertensive patients must take Nims tablet with caution, as it retains water in your body, leading to increased blood pressure. Also, it contains sodium salt that can worsen hypertension.

6. Congestive heart failure

Patients suffering from congestive heart failure; a condition in which the heart can not pump blood efficiently, should take Nims with caution, as it can cause fluid retention, hence worsening it.

7. Edema

People who have edema due to any condition must take Nims with caution as it can retain water in your body, worsening it.

8. Gastric ulcers

People suffering from gastric ulcers and acidity must take Nims with extreme caution because it inhibits the chemicals that protect the lining of your gastrointestinal tract.

Also, it can cause ulceration in your stomach lining when taken for the long term. Your doctor may prescribe a gastroprotection along with Nims. You should not take it if you have a complaint of gastritis as it can cause internal bleeding in the stomach.

9. Anticoagulants or bleeding disorders

If you are taking anticoagulants for thinning of your blood or any bleeding disorder, take Nims only on the advice of a healthcare provider. It inhibits the chemicals responsible for clotting factors, and anticoagulants also do that. When taken together, they can result in bleeding due to increased anticoagulant action.

Also, nimesulide is hepatotoxic, which means it damages your liver. If you already have liver disease, you must not take it. Always tell your healthcare provider about your health conditions.
