Dr. Mumtaz Ali is one of the most skilled Neurosurgeons in Peshawar. He has over 18 years of
experience in his field and is widely recognized as he was the first neurosurgeon to treat Malala
Yousafzai when she was shot in the head back in 2012. He has also requested her to raise
funds to build a neurosurgery hospital in KP. He is currently offering consultations at Lady
Reading Hospital.
Qualifications
Dr. Mumtaz Ali is a highly qualified neurosurgeon. He has completed his MBBS and FCPS. He
is furthermore a member of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
Experience
Dr. Mumtaz Ali has almost 2 decades of experience under his belt. He is currently offering
consultations at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. He is also the head of the neurosurgery
department of the Postgraduate Medical Institute at Lady Reading Hospital.
Activism
Dr. Mumtaz Ali has an interest in raising awareness for nerve damage and the different types of
issues patients come to him for. In a video he said there are 3 types of issues patients come to
him for: headaches, spinal issues and nerve issues. In Pakistan there are around 6 fields in
neurosurgery. Spinal and brain tumors are treated here and are a common occurrence in
Pakistan due to the radiation form bombs that have been in the region. They also treat pediatric
issues regarding the child’s brain and spine. He further went onto explain the other fields treated
in Pakistan.
Special Interests
Dr. Mumtaz Ali has a special interest in treating tumors and performing neurosurgery. He was in
fact the first neurosurgeon to treat Malala Yousafzai after she was shot back in 2012. He also
hopes that a neurosurgery hospital will be built in KP.
