What Experts Say
Clindamycin phosphate is a lincosamide antibiotic that works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of acne causing bacteria, stopping their protein synthesis. Once absorbed through the follicle, it lowers free fatty acid levels on the skin, which reduces the inflammatory trigger behind papules and pustules.
Acne affects a large share of teenagers and young adults in Pakistan, often worsened by hot and humid weather, oily skin type and irregular skincare routines. A thin layer applied once or twice daily is usually enough, since higher frequency raises the risk of dryness and irritation without added benefit.
Doctors usually ask patients to reassess their skin after six to eight weeks, since visible improvement in acne takes time. If bacterial resistance builds up, dermatologists often pair clindamycin with benzoyl peroxide to keep the treatment effective over a longer course.
