About Clobeta Cream 0.05%
A superpotent topical corticosteroid cream used for short term relief of severe psoriasis, eczema and stubborn skin inflammation
Drug Class
Clobeta Cream 0.05% belongs to a group of medicines called topical corticosteroids, specifically a superpotent class used for short term control of stubborn skin inflammation. Clobetasol propionate calms the overactive immune response in the skin that drives redness, itching and scaling.
Clobeta Cream 0.05% Uses in Pakistan
- Treating moderate to severe plaque psoriasis on the body
- Calming flare ups of eczema and atopic dermatitis that have not responded to milder steroid creams
- Managing lichen planus and other stubborn inflammatory skin conditions
- Reducing itching, redness and scaling from corticosteroid responsive dermatoses
- Short courses for localized, thickened or resistant skin patches under medical guidance
What Experts Say
Dermatologists reserve superpotent steroids like clobetasol propionate for skin conditions that have not settled on milder treatments. Its strength allows a short course to bring stubborn plaques and patches under control faster than a standard potency cream would manage, which is why it is usually a second line choice rather than a first prescription for mild flare ups.
Because this strength is so potent, treatment courses are usually kept brief, often around two weeks, with a weekly quantity limit to reduce the chance of thinning skin or stretch marks. Doctors also avoid it on the face, groin and underarms, where skin absorbs medicine more readily and side effects show up sooner. Larger or thicker patches on the trunk and limbs tend to respond best to this strength.
Once a flare settles, many patients move to a lower potency steroid or a non steroid maintenance option to keep symptoms controlled long term. Regular follow up lets a doctor confirm the skin is responding well, catch any early signs of irritation or thinning, and decide when it is safe to step down to a gentler option.

- Occlusive dressings: Bandages or airtight wraps increase how much medicine the skin absorbs, raising the chance of side effects
- Other skin products: Applying other creams, lotions or cosmetics to the treated area at the same time can affect how well the medicine is absorbed
Risks and warnings
