What Experts Say
High blood pressure is one of the most common yet under diagnosed health problems across Pakistan, often going unnoticed until it causes serious damage to the heart, kidneys or brain. ACE inhibitors like perindopril are widely recommended as first line treatment because they lower blood pressure while also protecting the heart and blood vessels from long term strain.
Doctors usually start treatment at a low dose and adjust it gradually based on blood pressure readings and how well the medicine is tolerated. Combining the medicine with reduced salt intake, regular exercise and weight management often improves results significantly. Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood potassium levels is an important part of long term care.
Because response to blood pressure treatment varies from person to person, doctors often personalize therapy based on age, kidney health and other existing conditions like diabetes. Consistent daily use, even when blood pressure feels normal, is essential for preventing complications such as stroke or heart failure over time.
