Benzoyl peroxide is a bactericidal oxidizing agent that lowers Cutibacterium acnes on the skin and carries mild keratolytic action, unclogging pores. Clindamycin phosphate is a lincosamide antibiotic that blocks bacterial protein synthesis and calms local inflammation, so the combination targets both bacteria and redness at once.

How to use Duac Gel?

• Wash the affected area gently and pat dry before application
• Apply a thin layer of gel once daily in the evening
• Avoid contact with eyes, lips, mouth and open wounds
• Wash hands after application unless treating the hands
• Use sunscreen during the day as skin may become sun sensitive
• Continue the full course advised by your doctor even if skin improves early

Drug Interactions

• Other topical acne products with retinoids or strong exfoliants may raise irritation if used together
• Concurrent use with other topical antibiotics is generally avoided
• Erythromycin containing skin products should not be used at the same time due to reduced effectiveness
• Abrasive or medicated soaps can worsen dryness when combined with this gel
