Isotrate Tablet 40mg Benefits

What Experts Say
Isosorbide mononitrate is a long acting organic nitrate that the body absorbs completely without needing liver conversion first. Inside blood vessel walls it releases nitric oxide, which relaxes smooth muscle and widens veins more than arteries. This lowers the volume of blood returning to the heart, which in turn reduces the oxygen the heart muscle needs during activity.
Cardiologists prescribe it for prevention rather than sudden relief, since its effect builds over thirty to sixty minutes rather than acting instantly. A once daily strength like 40mg is usually reached after a patient has tolerated lower doses well, and dosing is timed with a gap each day to stop the body from building tolerance to the drug.
The main safety concern is combining it with medicines for erectile dysfunction such as sildenafil or tadalafil, since both lower blood pressure and together can cause a dangerous drop. Stopping the tablet suddenly can also allow angina to return, so any dose change should happen gradually and under medical guidance.
