How to use Covam Tablet 5 mg / 160 mg?
- Take Covam Tablet once daily, at the same time each day
- Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water
- Take with or without food, unless your doctor advises otherwise
- Do not crush or chew the tablet
- Follow the exact dose prescribed by your doctor; do not adjust it on your own
- Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless it is close to the next scheduled dose
Drug Interactions
- Other Blood Pressure Medicines: Combining with other antihypertensives increases the risk of excessive blood pressure lowering.
- Potassium Sparing Diuretics: Spironolactone, potassium supplements, or salt substitutes can raise blood potassium to unsafe levels.
- NSAIDs: Regular use of ibuprofen or similar painkillers can reduce the blood pressure lowering effect and affect kidney function.
- Simvastatin: Amlodipine can raise simvastatin levels; the statin dose may need to be limited to 20 mg daily.
- Lithium: Valsartan can increase lithium levels in the blood, raising the risk of toxicity, so monitoring is advised.
- CYP3A4 Inhibitors: Medicines such as ketoconazole or ritonavir can increase Amlodipine levels and side effects.
- Grapefruit Juice: May increase Amlodipine levels in the blood and should be avoided.
