Prof. Dr. Tallat Farkhanda is a distinguished Consultant Gynecologist, Professor, and Dean of Gynecology & Obstetrics at Rawalpindi Medical University – Holy Family Hospital. With a career spanning more than three decades, she has dedicated her professional life to advancing medical education, patient care, and research in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Her strong commitment to safe motherhood and reducing maternal morbidity has been the guiding principle throughout her career. She completed her MBBS from King Edward Medical College, Lahore in 1993, followed by FCPS and MCPS in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. Over the years, she has served in leading hospitals across Pakistan, beginning her journey with a house job at Lady Wallington Hospital, Lahore, and later working at Rawalpindi General Hospital, Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar, and District Hospital Okara. Her career progression includes roles as Senior Registrar, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, and ultimately Dean and Head of Department at Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi. Clinically, Prof. Dr. Tallat Farkhanda is highly skilled in managing obstetric and gynecologic emergencies, infertility management, laparoscopic procedures, and high?risk obstetrics. She has performed a wide range of surgeries including laparotomy, hysterectomy, cervical cerclage, anterior and posterior repair, and laparoscopies. Her expertise extends to antenatal clinics, infertility clinics, family planning, and gynecology OPD, where she has independently managed complex cases with precision and care. In addition to her clinical practice, she has played a pivotal role in medical education. Since 2002, she has actively supervised undergraduate and postgraduate residents, conducted seminars, workshops, and journal clubs, and served as examiner for CPSP, UHS, and RMU. Her dedication to teaching has shaped the careers of countless medical professionals, ensuring the continuation of excellence in gynecology and obstetrics. Prof. Dr. Tallat Farkhanda has also contributed extensively to research, authoring numerous studies on critical topics such as rising cesarean section rates, postpartum contraception practices, burnout among doctors during the COVID?19 pandemic, infertility evaluation, maternal serum ferritin levels, congenital malformations, and postpartum hemorrhage audits. Her research reflects a deep commitment to addressing pressing healthcare challenges in Pakistan and improving maternal and neonatal outcomes.
